Short and long term plans:
In the short term, the main focus for my property is to enjoy it I've spent the last 6 years contemplating
and negotiating its purchase. I consider it a lifetime purchase and I'm devoted to taking care of it
properly. I grew up in Mazomanie and spent countless days on the Wisconsin River. A property this
large will require constant and immediate attention including land management initiatives such as silver
culture, seasonal burns and the killing of invasive species. I have and will continue to reach out to
organization such as The Aldo Leopold Foundation, Friends of the Lower Wisconsin Riverway, DNR,the
Town of Mazomanie and Dane County in order to manage the land in accordance with the strategic
plans for the region. I'm asking for the issuance of a build permit(including the attached Dane County
zoning permit) in order to repair the existing structure on the property. This structure will serve as a
base for land management activities including the storage of equipment and supplies, charging and use
of electrical equipment as well as a place to rest and recover from the elements and hard work ahead.
The long term plan for the property is to build a single family homestead. Based on prior
correspondence with Dane County, a rezone and driveway variance will be required. The open petition
from last year(11021) will be allowed to expire and a new application resubmitted in 3-5 years. This will
allow adequate time to more thoroughly investigate the issues detailed in the petition report dated
August 26, 2016. It will also allow more time to improve relations and address the concerns of the
neighbors.
