Dane County Land & Water Resources Department
i Administration • Land Conservation • Office of Lakes&Watersheds• Parks • Water Resource Engineering
Ccol Kevin F.Connors,Director
July 13, 2017
Dane County Planning and Development
Room 116
City-County Building
Madison, WI 53703
Floodplain Development Permit
Fryes Feeder Creek Snowmobile Bridge
Town of Springdale, Section 28
The proposed snowmobile bridge will cross Fryes Feeder Creek on public property through Donald
County Park. It will replace an existing wood flat span bridge that has become structurally unsafe. The
plan conforms to Dane County Code of Ordinance, Chapter 17, Floodplain Regulations.
The new snowmobile bridge will have a low chord of the bridge at approximately 920'. The cross
section of the proposed bridge is approximately a 150%increase compared to the existing wooden
bridge. We expect no adverse impact to the regional floodplain.
The following conditions were considered in the design:
• This development shall not obstruct flow, defined as development which blocks the conveyance
of floodwaters by itself or with other development, causing any increase in the regional flood
height; or cause any increase in the regional flood height due to floodplain storage area lost.
• Bridge shall be designed and constructed to have a low flood damage potential.
• Adequate flood proofmg measures shall be provided to the flood protection elevation.
The attached map provides a site location of the bridge, including contour elevations. Dane County
Water Resource Engineering has reviewed this plan and are providing their approval.
Sin
ti Allif /
Jer-my Balousek) P E.
Division Manager
Water Resource Engineering Division
Lyman F.Anderson Agriculture&Conservation Center
5201 Fen Oak Drive,Room 208,Madison,Wisconsin 53718-PH:608/224-3730,FAX:608/224-3745
www.countyofdane.com/lwrd
