- 2a.
Receipt is herewith acknowledged of a copy of an ordinance of annexation of certain
described territory, adopted by the Common Council on September 8, 1962, published
on September 17, 1960.
Ordinance No. 1062
Part of Section 30, T 7 N, R 9 E, Town of Madison, Dane County
Wisconsin,
Parts of Sections 25 and 36, T 7 N, R 8 Es Town of Middleton,
Dane County, Wisconsin
(from Joint School District No. 8 of the Town of Middleton and
the City of Madison, Dam County, Wisconsin)
and
(from the Union High School. District of the Cities of Middleton
and Madison, Village of Cross Plains and the Towns of Middleton,
Cross Plains, Berry, Springfield and Westport, Date County,
Wisconsin)
and
anisexi the above described territory to the
City of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin.
Dated December 2, 1965
Signed: .t c._.=.-• a .i... ! /
t IaU B. ' o"ri5ie
State Superintendent of Schools
Note: The detailed description of the territory included in this ordinance is
on file in the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction,
State Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin. It is assumed that copies of this
ordinance has been previously filed with each of the several municipal
clerks as required by law.
Note: This ordinance was appealed to court. It is now reported by Mr. Corcoran
of the City Attorney's Office that the Towns of Madison and Middleton
have signed stipulations dropping the contest on Ordinance No, 1062. He
also advises that Judge Edwin Wilke signed the judgment and order on
September 30, 1964 dismissing the contest by the Town of Madison and
Middleton on Ordinance No. 1062 and awarding the area to the City of
Madison. The Secretary of State's Office received the certification on
October 5, 1964 pursuant to Section 66.026. This settlement is too
late for the 1964-65 school year.
