Montgomery Associates 1/ <br /> Resource Solutions <br /> October 11,2017 <br /> Dane County Zoning <br /> Room 116,City-County Building <br /> 210 Martin Luther King Jr.Blvd <br /> Madison,WI 53703 <br /> Re: Pole Installation within FEMA Mapped 100-year Floodplain Boundary <br /> Alliant Energy—Paoli Bridge Electric Relocation <br /> Sections 10 of Township 05 N Range 08 E. <br /> Alliant WR Number:4097800 <br /> MARS Project Number: 1530-235 <br /> VIA: COURIER <br /> Dear Hans Hilbert: <br /> On behalf of Alliant Energy/Wisconsin Power&Light(WPL),Montgomery Associates:Resource <br /> Solutions(MARS)has prepared zoning application materials for proposed work on the Paoli Bridge <br /> Electric Relocation project located in the Town of Montrose,Dane County,Wisconsin(See Sheet 1).The <br /> project will involve the construction of approximately 400 linear feet of underground electric line,the <br /> installation of 3 overhead(OH)electric poles,and the removal of 1 overhead electric pole.As part of the <br /> overhead electric distribution rebuild,two poles will be installed and one existing pole will be removed <br /> from the regulatory floodplain.The two poles to be installed within the regulatory floodplain will be <br /> within the flood fringe and the pole to be removed is within the floodway.No changes in grade are <br /> anticipated within the project boundary.Poles will be installed within road right-of-way(ROW)and a <br /> private easement(See Sheet 2). The intent of this submittal is to apply for County Floodplain <br /> Development permit coverage for the project. <br /> Based on our previous communications,a shoreland zoning permit is not required for this project.Dane <br /> County Shoreland Erosion Control permit application submittal materials have been submitted under <br /> separate cover,as the project involves land disturbance within 300 feet of the Sugar River. <br /> Construction Schedule <br /> Pending approval of applicable permits, the anticipated construction schedule is planned to start <br /> November 1, 2017 with project completion by December 1, 2017. Construction activities will be <br /> intermittent through the duration of the project. Permanent restoration will be complete by May 15, <br /> 2018. <br /> Floodplain Impacts <br /> Two poles will be installed and one existing poles will be removed within the FEMA mapped floodplain, <br /> thus the project is subject to Dane County Floodplain Zoning Ordinance. This indudes demonstrating no <br /> appreciable obstruction to flow in the 100-year flood or loss of storage in the floodplain due to the project. <br /> Two poles are to be installed within the mapped flood fringe,with one pole removal within the floodway <br /> 119 South Main Street • Cottage Grove.
