ORDER OF ESTABLISHMENT OF A SCHOOL DISTRICT
<br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 40.02 (5), 40.025 (2) and 40.03 of the
<br /> Wisconsin Statutes, the Dane County School Committee, State of Wisconsin, having
<br /> held a formal hearing on the 21st day of June, 1965, and having held a conference
<br /> with the school boards of the districts involved precedent to the issuance of this
<br /> order, all being in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned statutes,
<br /> it is hereby ordered that the following designated districts be dissolved, to-wit:
<br /> Union High School District of the Village of Waunakee and the
<br /> Towns of Westport, Springfield, Vienna, and Dane, Dane County,
<br /> Wisconsin,
<br /> and the
<br /> Joint School District No. 1 of the Village of Waunakee and the
<br /> Towns of Dane, Vienna, Westport and Springfield, Dane County,
<br /> Wisconsin,
<br /> and
<br /> All that portion of School District No. 2, Town of Vienna, Dane
<br /> County, Wisconsin,
<br /> and
<br /> All that portion of Joint School District No. 4, of the Towns of
<br /> Springfield, Berry, Dane and Westport, Dane County, Wisconsin,
<br /> which is a part of the Union High School District of the Village
<br /> of Waunakee and the Towns of Westport, Springfield, Vienna, and
<br /> Dane, Dane County, Wisconsin
<br /> and to create a Common School District Joint No. 4, Village of Waunakee and Towns
<br /> of Dane, Vienna, Westport and Springfield, County of Dane, State of Wisconsin, to
<br /> operate elementary and high school grades.
<br /> It is further ordered that said Common School District Joint No. 4, shall comprise
<br /> the territory consisting of the above aforesaid dissolved districts and detached
<br /> territory and is hereby created to operate both elementary and high school grades,
<br /> being kindergarten through 12 grade.
<br /> The School Board of the newly created district shall consist of seven members.
<br /> This order becomes effective on the 23rd day of July, 1965.
<br /> The first district meeting of said designated school district shall be held at
<br /> the Waunakee High School on the 23rd day of August, 1965, beginning at 8 o'clock
<br /> in the afternoon and it is hereby ordered that the election procedures must be in
<br /> accordance with Wisconsin Statutes and that the polls must be open from 1 P.M.
<br /> to 8 P.M. (40.27)
<br /> August 23rd, 1965, allows ample time for candidates to declare their intention to
<br /> run for school office. The Wisconsin Statutes provide that the declaration of
<br /> candidates must be filed 20 days prior to the Annual Meeting. 40.27 (2) (e)
<br /> The Clerk of the town, village of city in which the greatest number of electors
<br /> reside shall act as clerk of the election and declaration of candidacy shall be
<br /> filed with him. He shall cause notice of the election to be given as provided by
<br /> the statutes which govern municipal elections. Such clerk shall have charge of the
<br /> election and provide all necessary materials and equipment to conduct the same in
<br /> a manner similar to that used for conducting municipal elections. The cost of
<br /> conducting such election shall become a charge upon the new school district, and
<br /> the board of such new district, upon taking office, shall pay all costs of such
<br /> election upon claims duly filed. 40.025 (6)
