There are several concerns. The main pylon sign exceeds the 500 square foot
limit (648 proposed). Only one pylon sign is permit, so the second pylon sign on the south side of the
property is prohibited. Also, the sign is within the visibility triangle. Possibly the second pylon sign could
be redesigned into a ground sign to obtain a second freestanding sign on the property. The large CAT
scale sign is prohibited. There are several auxiliary signs on the property. The aggregate amount of
auxiliary signs shall be kept to maximum of 50 square feet.
County Highway N is posted at 45 mph in this location. Below are the limitations of signs for the
property.
Ground sign -One ground sign is permitted per property - Maximum 96 square feet- Maximum height
16 feet- Placement of sign is based on height; if the bottom edge is at least 6 feet above the ground,
then the sign may be placed 5 feet from the property line. If the bottom edge of the sign is less than 6
feet or obstructions between 2.5 feet and 6 feet, the sign must be place 42 feet back from Hwy N. If the
top edge is 2.5 feet or lower, the sign may be placed 5 feet away from the property line. The sign may
not be within the visibility triangle at the intersection (legs are 42 feet back along the property lines). See
diagram.
Pylon sign -One pylon sign is permitted per property -The property is within 2500 feet of Interstate 39.
Maximum 500 square feet in size - Maximum height 150 feet. Sign shall be located a minimum of 5 feet
from the property line.
Wall signs-Two walls signs are permitted per building - Each sign shall be a maximum of 200 square
feet. Groups of signs may be within a 200 square foot boundary and counted as one sign.
Auxiliary signs -Auxiliary signs shall have a maximum size of 5 square feet and be erected to a height
not to exceed 4 feet. Total aggregate area of auxiliary signs may not exceed 50 square feet.
Directional signs are considered auxiliary signs.
Electronic signs - Electronic signs shall conform to the regulations for the type of installation for on-
premise ground, pylon, or wall signs. Electronic signs may be used only to advertise activities conducted
or goods and services available on the property on which the signs are located or to present public
service information. Electronic signs may not display a message for less than one-half of a second and
may not repeat a message at intervals of less than 2 seconds. A traveling message may not travel
slower than 16 light columns per second nor faster than 32 light columns per second. Flashing signs are
not permitted.
