•
Driveway Permit/Culvert Requirements
Town of Middleton
To: Tim O'Brien Homes
From: Taylor Bontje
Subject: Lot 6 Pioneer Pointe
Date: 06/30/2021
Culvert requirement-A 15" CMP culvert or horizontal equivalent is required for Lot 6 of
Pioneer Pointe subdivision. The roadside swale must be free from silt and erosion from
upstream construction or other and graded per design prior to installation of the
culvert.
Finally, the culvert shall be long enough to provide a 4:1 slope from the edges of
driveway down to the ends of the culvert.
Driveway slopes - All driveways shall slope down and away from the roadway, for a
minimum of five feet measured from the edge of the roadway and shall be pitched
such that the lowest point of the driveway within the first 10 feet is a minimum of three
inches lower in elevation than that at the roadway edge of pavement.
The maximum grade for the first 20 feet of driveway measured from the street
pavement edge shall be 4%. The maximum grade beyond the first 20 feet shall be 10%.
Pioneer Pointe has binder course. Surface course will add another 1.75" of pavement.
Leave the last five feet unpaved for tie in to the edge of road pavement at a later date
when surface course is placed.
Driveway width - Unless special permission is first received from the Town Board, or
committee thereof, a residential driveway shall be no greater than 28 feet wide at the
curb line or pavement edge and 22 feet wide at the road right-of-way.
Based on a site inspection and review of the revised plot plan provided June 30, 2021, it
appears you can meet these requirements. If you are unable to meet these
requirements, please contact the Town to discuss a potential variance.
Per the current policy, please call (608) 821-3960 for an inspection 48 hours prior to
paving/pouring the driveway. Driveway staking should be in place. A final inspection is
required after restoration of the site.
