Jess Starks, CPESC
Erosion Control &Stormwater Management Program
5201 Fen Oak Drive, Room 208
Madison, WI 53718
Cell: (608) 219-1844; Office: (608) 224-3647,
http://wred-Iwrd.countyofdane.com/
starks@countyofdane.com
PLEASE NOTE that our office is temporarily closed, due to COVID-19 public health advisory- business can be
conducted via email or phone
From: Hilbert, Hans
Sent: Monday, November 2, 2020 2:06 PM
To:Starks,Jess; 'Jay Jones'
Subject: RE:Shoreland Erosion Control Permit
Alright, here is what I come up with. The addition that is located within the shoreland zone will occupy 1,577
square feet, however a portion of this is over an existing building, and then some more of that existing building
is coming down and located in the shoreland zone (703 square feet). 1577-703=874 square feet.
To the west the site plans shows the removal of a long narrow structure being 640 square feet. 874-640=234
square feet.
Then west of the stream, adjacent to the newest building Jay identified a 200 and a 600 square foot area to
revegetate, 234-800=-566 square feet.
All but the excess 566 square feet needs to be restored to a vegetated state capable of infiltrating
stormwater. These numbers may look slightly different than those stated in my review letter, as I just got access
to the 2020 aerial imagery for this site.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
2
