ORD.AMEND.43, 1995-96 <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF THE DANE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCEJrEIGHT OF CERTAIN PYLON SIGNS <br /> The County Board of Supervisors of the County of Dane does ordain as follows: <br /> ARTICLE 1. Unless otherwise expressly stated herein, all references to section and chapter numbers are to those of the Dane <br /> County Code of Ordinances. <br /> ARTICLE 2. Section 10.74(19)is amended to read as follows: <br /> (19) Pylon signs shall have a maximum size of 100 square feet where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is 35 miles <br /> per hour or less,200 square feet where the maximum permissible speed on the adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 miles per <br /> hour, and 300 square feet where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is more than 45 miles per hour. Such a sign may be <br /> erected to a height not to exceed 20 feet where the speed limit on the adjacent highway is 35 miles per hour or less;35 feet where <br /> the speed limit on the adjacent highway is between 36 and 45 miles per hour, and 50 feet where the speed limit on the adjacent <br /> highway is more than 45 miles per hour. There shall be no more than one such sign per parcel and the sign shall be located not <br /> more than 200 feet from the site advertised on the sign. <br /> ARTICLE 3. Section 10.74(19m)is created to read as follows: <br /> (19m)(a) This subsection supersedes sub.(19)with respect to eligible pylon signs as defined herein. <br /> (b) As used in this subsection, interstate highway means any highway officially designated as a part of the national <br /> system of interstate and defense highways by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and approved by the appropriate <br /> authority of the federal government, and eligible pylon sign means a pylon sign which is both located within 2,500 feet of the <br /> right-of-way of an interstate highway and erected on the premises of a business advertised on the sign. <br /> (c) Eligible pylon signs shall have a maximum size of 500 square feet and may be erected to a height not to exceed 150 <br /> feet. . <br /> (d) Eligible pylon signs shall comply with applicable federal law and the June 1961 agreement between the Wisconsin <br /> Department of Transportation and the federal highway administrator relative to control of advertising adjacent to interstate <br /> highways. Additionally, except as to maximum size and maximum height, any such sign shall comply with the s. 83.40(4), Wis. <br /> Stats.,and acts amendatory thereto. <br /> • <br /> Adopted by the Dane County Board of Supervisors July 11, 1996 <br /> • <br />
