Page 3 <br /> Amend #3613 <br /> (B) For land divisions and proposed developments which do not <br /> exceed 5 acres in area and which have an estimated cost of <br /> $125,000 or less, if the regional flood profile has not been <br /> • determined, the municipality may transmit the information <br /> required to the Department of Natural Resources for a <br /> determination of flood protection elevations and for an <br /> evaluation of the effects of the proposal upon flood heights, <br /> velocities and floodplain storage. <br /> (7) PERMITTED USES IN FLOOD STORAGE DISTRICT: <br /> (A) Residential: All residential structures shall meet the <br /> following standards: <br /> 1. The first floor of a structure to be erected, <br /> constructed, reconstructed, or moved on the flood plain <br /> shall be constructed on fill at or above the flood <br /> protection elevation for the particular area. The fill <br /> shall be not less than one foot below the flood <br /> protection elevation for the particular area and the fill <br /> shall extend at such elevation at least 15 feet beyond <br /> the limits of any structure or building erected thereon <br /> and shall be contiguous to land which is outside of the <br /> flood plain and/or is accessible by rescue and relief <br /> vehicles during the regional flood. <br /> • 2. The basement floor shall be at or above the regional <br /> flood elevation, unless a community wide exemption • <br /> allowing flood proofing of basements has been granted by <br /> the Federal Insurance Administration (FIA) of the Federal <br /> Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) . <br /> (B) COMMERCIAL, MANUFACTURING & INDUSTRIAL: <br /> 1. Principal buildings which are to be erected, constructed, <br /> reconstructed, added to or moved into a flood storage <br /> area shall be elevated or flood-proofed to two feet above <br /> the regional flood elevation. Measures shall be taken to <br /> minimize interference with normal plant operations <br /> especially for plants located on streams having <br /> protracted flood durations. <br /> 2. Storage yards, parking lots, airport landing strips and <br /> other similar accessory uses may be at lower elevations, <br /> but, no such area for general use by the public shall be <br /> inundated to a depth greater than two feet or subjected <br /> to flood velocities greater than two feet per second. <br /> (C) STORAGE OR PROCESSING: <br /> Materials that are buoyant, flammable, explosive, or which in <br /> times of flooding, could be injurious to human, animal, or <br /> plant life, shall be stored at or above the flood protection <br /> elevation or flood proofed in compliance with the provisions <br /> of this ordinance. - <br />
