NO. 6, 1989-90 A-FA= 010%r-°2P1)- <br /> AMENDING CHAPTERS 10 & 12 OF THE DANE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> RELATING TO REGULATION OF OUTDOOR ADVERTISING <br /> The County Board of Supervisors of the County of Dane does ordain as <br /> follows: <br /> ARTICLE 1. Unless otherwise expressly stated herein, all references to <br /> section and chapter numbers are to those of the Dane County Code of Ordinances. <br /> ARTICLE 2. Subsections (57) through (65), inclusive, of section 10.01 are <br /> repealed in their entirety. <br /> ARTICLE 3. Section 10.70 is amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 10.70 SUBCHAPTER; PURPOSE. (1) Sections 10.70 through 10.93, <br /> inclusive, are hereinafter collectively referred to as "this subchapter". <br /> (2) The purpose of this subchapter is to regulate signs for all properties <br /> within the jurisdiction of this ordinance and to ensure the public safety, <br /> preservation of scenic beauty and the implementation of the desired overall <br /> character of the community and its constituent zoning districts. <br /> ARTICLE 4. Sections 10.71 through 10.79, inclusive, are repealed and <br /> recreated to read as follows: <br /> 10.71 DEFINITIONS. As used in this subchapter, the following words shall <br /> have the definitions indicated: <br /> (1) "sign" shall mean any object, device, display, structure, or part <br /> thereof, situated outdoors, which is used to advertise, identify, display, <br /> direct or attract attention to an object, person, institution, organization, <br /> business, product, service, event, or location by any means, including words, <br /> letters, figures, designs, symbols, fixture, colors, illumination, or <br /> projected images. As used herein sign does not include the flag or emblem of <br /> any nation, organization of nations, or other governmental or municipal <br /> agencies or units; traffic control or other public agency signs; community <br /> information signs; displays within the confines of a building; merchandise, <br /> pictures or models of products or services incorporated in a window display; <br /> works of art which in no way identify a product or service; scoreboards <br /> located on athletic fields' "no trespassing" and "no hunting" signs; and signs <br /> mounted or painted on commercial vehicles and the same are expressly excepted <br /> from regulation under this subchapter. <br /> (2) "agriculture sign" shall mean a sign advertising agricultural products <br /> which are available at a specific farm or are being produced on the farm on <br /> which the sign is located. <br /> (3) "apartment complex" sign shall mean a sign that provides identification <br /> for an apartment complex on which the sign is located. <br /> (4) "appendage sign" shall mean an additional sign mounted above or hung <br /> below the primary sign face. <br /> 1� <br />
