(5) To qualify as a "construction sign," a sign shall identify the project <br /> and may include the names of the contractors, engineers .or architect, or <br /> products being used in the construction of a building but only during the time <br /> that construction or development is actively under way. The sign shall be <br /> removed within 30 days of the completion of the project. <br /> (6) The "total sign copy" area of all on-premise signs related to a business <br /> shall not exceed the maximum permitted sign copy area. Sign copy area shall <br /> be measured in the following manner:. The copy area of signs which have a <br /> face, boarder or trim shall consist of the entire surface area of the sign on <br /> which copy could be placed. Copy area of a sign whose message is applied to a <br /> background which provides no face, border or trim shall be the area of the <br /> smallest rectangle which can encompass all words, letters, figures, emblems, <br /> and other elements of the sign message. See sub. (10) for sample diagrams. <br /> (7) "Copy area for appendage signs" shall be measured as provided in sub. (6) <br /> above. The square foot total of all appendage sign copy areas shall be <br /> included with the sign copy area of the primary sign to provide the overall <br /> copy area of the sign. <br /> (8) The supporting structure or bracing of a sign shall not be counted as a <br /> part of sign copy area unless such structure or bracing is- made a part of the <br /> sign's message. <br /> (9) The copy area of back to back on-premise ground or pylon signs shale be <br /> computed using the copy area of only one side.
