Madison, WI 53709 Dear Mr. Reynolds, Pursuant to your request, I have enclosed a copy of the Riverway law and a copy of the Riverway map for the east half of the Lower Wisconsin River, Prairie du Sac to Muscoda. The performance standards for structures/mobile homes are detailed in s. 30.44(1)(c). The activities related to structures which require a permit are noted in s. 30.44(1)(b). Other activities for which the county may issue a permit are walkways/stairways [s. 30.44(2)] and bridges [s. 30.44(5)]. Section 30.44(3) regulates timber harvesting within the Riverway including lands zoned shorelands. However, a preliminary determination has been made not to burden the county zoning offices with the responsi- bility of issuing permits for timber harvesting in shorelands zoned areas. As a result, the Riverway Board will issue permits for timber harvesting activities in the shorelands zoned area. The county procedure is detailed in s. 30.44(9) and the require- ments for the Riverway Board review of county granted waivers to the performance standards are noted in s. 30.44(11). In regard to the Riverway map, you will note there are 4 maps for the east half of the Riverway. Please refer to map #2 to determine the boundaries of the Riverway. New maps are expected to be available sometime in the next several months.
