SALVAGE YARDS: (Section 10.20) In addition to State of Wisconsin or Town requirements, a conditional use permit and an annual license is required from Dane County before anyone can begin operating a salvage or junk yard in the unincorporated areas of Dane County. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT: (Section 10.25 (7) A conditional use permit (CUP) is required for certain uses within each zoning dis- trict. The Committee approves or denies applications for conditional use permits following a public hearing. Contact the Zoning Department for information about filing an application for a conditional use permit. SPECIAL EXCEPTION PERMIT: (Section 10.35 (c) A special exception permit is needed before placing any fill in a flood plain or shore- land area or for any building to be constructed in a flood plain or shoreland area. The Board of Adjustment approves or denies applications for special exception permits following a public hearing. Contact the Zoning Department for information about filing an application for a special exception permit. VARIANCE - BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: (Section 10.26) The Board of Adjustment grants variances from the locational requirements of the zoning ordinance. When the imposition of those requirements would result in a hard- ship to the property owner that is not shared by other owners, an application for a variance can be made to the Board of Adjustment.
