ordinance as to width and area for the district in which is it located. No land
<br />included in any street, highway, or railroad right of way shall be included
<br />in computing lot area.
<br />(17) Lot, Corner:.A lot located at the intersection of two streets, any
<br />two corners of which have an angle of one hundred. twenty (120) degrees
<br />or less, or is bounded by a curved street any two chords'of which, on the
<br />inside of the curve, form an angle of one hundred twenty. (120) degrees
<br />or less.
<br />(18) Lot, Interior: A lot which is not a corner lot.
<br />(19) Lot Lines: The lines bounding a lot as described herein.
<br />(20) Lot Width: For purposes of this ordinance the ' width of a lot
<br />shall be the shortest distance between the side lines at the setback line. On
<br />lake shore lots the lot width shall be the distance between the side .lot lines
<br />at the building line.
<br />(21) Non- conforming Use: A building or premises occupied by a use
<br />which does not conform to the regulations of the district in which it is
<br />located.
<br />1. (22) Park, Amusement: An area, publicly or privately owned, contain-
<br />ing amusement and recreation . facilities and devices, -whether • operated for
<br />profit or not.
<br />(23) Park, Public: An area owned by the county or a municipality
<br />within the county, operated for the convenience and recreation of the
<br />public, and. containing .. such facilities as the owning municipality shall
<br />see fit.
<br />(24) Parking Lot: A lot where automobiles are parked or stored tem-
<br />porarily, but not including the .wrecking of automobiles or other vehicles
<br />or storage for the purpose of repair or wrecking.
<br />(25) Person: Except when otherwise indicated by the context, the
<br />word person shall include the plural, or a company, firm, corporation or
<br />partnership.
<br />(26) Professional Office: When. conducted in a residential district a
<br />Professional office shall be incidental to the residential use of the premises,
<br />shall be conducted by a member of the resident family entirely within. a
<br />residential building; and shall include the offices of doctors or practitioners,
<br />ministers, architects, landscape architects, professional engineers, lawyers, .
<br />authors, artists, musicians and other recognized professional occupations
<br />conducted within .residences, but not including personal services, such as
<br />barbers, beauticians and similar occupations. :
<br />(27) Recreational Camp: An area containing one or more permanent
<br />buildings used occasionally or periodically for the accommodation of mem-
<br />bers of associations or. groups for recreational purposes.
<br />(28) Rendering Plant: A plant for reduction of dead animals, or slaugh-
<br />tered animals not suitable for human consumption, to by- products, such as
<br />hide skin, grease, bones, glue and soap, and for the storage of such
<br />by- products.
<br />(29) Roadside Stand: A structure used ' or intended to be used by the
<br />owner or occupant of the premises on which it is located for the sale of
<br />farm or garden products produced on the premises or adjacent premises.
<br />Such structure shall not. be placed within the setback line and may not be
<br />used for the sale of or dealing in merchandise other than farm products
<br />locally produced. _
<br />(30) Rooming House: Same as lodging house.
<br />(31) Setback: The minimum horizontal distance from the front lot line
<br />of the lot or from the center of the highway, measured parallel to the
<br />highway or the front lot line to the froikbf the building.

<br />(32) Service Station: Any building, structure or premises or other
<br />,place used for .the dispensing, sale or offering for •sale of any motor fuel
<br />or oils, having . pum s and storage tanks of a total capacity . of not more
<br />than, six; thousand 6,000) gallons; also where battery, mire and similar
<br />services 'are rendere , but not including buildings or premises where such
<br />business:is incidental to the conduct of a public garage used for the repair
<br />or storage of motor vehicles.
<br />(33) Sign: Anything erected, hung. suspended, painted or.attached to.
<br />any other structure, carrying words, letters, figures, phrasesi sentences;
<br />names, designs, trade names or trade marks or any other device, placed so
<br />as to be :visible from a street or highway and calling attention to a business,
<br />trade, profession, commodity, product, person, firm or. corporation.. For
<br />purposes of this ordinance a highway marker, symbol, railroad crossing
<br />marker or signal, intended for the safety of the traveling public, or any
<br />.� device or symbol placed in the highway right of way by or with the ap
<br />proval of the governing body of such highway, shall not be considered a
<br />sign.
<br />(34) Sign, Directory: A sign intended for the convenience of the
<br />traveling ublic, calling attention to a service station, garage, eating, or
<br />k drinking pace; tourist camp, roadside stand, shop or similar business, cater -
<br />ing to the traveling public. Such sign shall not exceed twelve (12) square
<br />feet in gross area, be located not more than one -half mile in the approaching
<br />direction from the business advertised, and no product may be advertised
<br />i. which is not for sale at the point indicated.
<br />(35) Slaughter House:. Any building or premises used commercially for
<br />the killing or dressing of cattle, sheep, swine, goats or horses, Jor human
<br />�., . consumption and the, storage, freezing and curing of meat and preparation
<br />of meat products.
<br />(36) 'Story: The vertical distance of a building included. between the
<br />surface of any floor and the floor next above it, or if there be no floor above
<br />it. then the space between such floor and ceiling; provided that a basement
<br />shall not be considered a story.
<br />I (37) Story, Half: A story.bader a gable, hip or gambrel roof, the wall
<br />plates of which 'on at least two opposite exterior walls are not more than
<br />`. two feet above the floor of such a story.
<br />I" (38) Street: A public or private thoroughfare which affords a primary
<br />means of access. to abutting property is a street to that property for the
<br />f purposes of this ordinance, except driveways to buildings. A driveway to a
<br />s farm building shall not be considered a street for the purpose of deter-
<br />,F mining setback, even though such driveway may have been designated.a
<br />town road for the purpose of maintenance.
<br />(39) Street Line: The dividing line between the street and the lot.
<br />! (40) Structure: Anything erected or constructed, the use. of which
<br />requires more or less permanent location on. the ground. A sign, billboard
<br />or other advertising medium detached or projecting, and having a gross
<br />area of sixty (60) square feet of more, shall be considered a structure for
<br />the purposes of this ordinance. Telephone, telegraph and power poles and
<br />lines shall not be considered. structures for the purposes of this ordinance.
<br />(41) Structural Alteration: Any change in the supporting members of •
<br />a building, such as the bearing walls or partitions, columns, beams or
<br />girders, excepting such alterations as may be necessary for the safety of
<br />the building.
<br />(42) Tourist Camp: An area or premises on which 'are located per-
<br />manent buildings, either single cabins or .buildings, comprising two. or
<br />more units under one roof; together with accessory buildings, for the
<br />temporary accommodation of tourists, but not for permanent occupancy
<br />except by the ,owner or occupant of the premises or his employees.
