LYNCH DANE COWITY ZON I NM COMMITTEE
C,vr# Hov-,e
MADISON 3, W15CONSIN
Gentlemen:
,Attached is a copy of the revised tentative craft of a proposed new Lean:
county zoning: ordinance. This draft is the result of some three years of
intermittent work.
Copies of this draft are being sent to each member of each town board and
each town clerk in the county, regardless of whether the town is operating under
the present ordinance or not. Copies are also being sent to certain selected
attorneys and real estate men who have, at some time or other, had something
to do with the county zoning ordinance.
After opportunity has been given for study of the ordinance the zoning com-
mittee will hold a series of informal meetings at various points in the county,
at which town board members and other interested parties may discuss the
ordinance and its various provisions. Since one evening is not a long enough
time to read the ordinance through in its entirety and discuss it, it is urged
that town -board members study the ordinance before the meetings and come pre-
pared to ask questions on those portions which may require explanation, or offer
suggestions where changes may appear to be advisable* ,;t these same meetings .
the location, area and boundaries of the new districts should be determined, and
a good deal of thought should be Given to this matter so as to eliminate or
reduce as far as possible repeated amendments in the future.
In those towns not now operating under the zoning ordinance, it is suggested
that the board members consider whether they may be missing out on some impor-
tant benefits. It would be a fine thing to have one hundred per cent coverage
in the county when the ordinance is adopted.
It will, of course, be necessary to have formal hearings after the committee
submits the final draft to the county board, but it is hoped by these informal
meetings to eliminate as many bugs as possible in the ordinance and leave clear
sailing at the formal hearings.
It is the sincere desire of the committee to provide for mane county the best
possible ordinance that can be drafted, and to that end it will cheerfully con-
sider any suggestions that may be offered, regardless of sourse* The active
cooperation of every interested party is solicited*
DAVE COUNTY ZONING COMMITTEE
. 6tueyn ern, Chasrman
,ti
