SECTION 10.49 <br />the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Highways. <br />(b) Signs shall not be designed and installed to imitate or simulate any high- <br />way marker, signal or traffio control sign. <br />(c) Signs shall not have any flashing or rotating lights. <br />(d) Signs shall not be placed to obscure the vision of ary official highway <br />marker, signal or traffic control sign. <br />(e) A railroad crossing shall be considered the same as a highway intersection. <br />(f) Signs shall not be attached to trees, fence post or fence or utility <br />structures and shall not be painted on a rock or other natural object. <br />(g) Signs shall be kept in a good state of repair. <br />(h) The provisions of this ordinance which define permitted locations of signs <br />along the public roads and highways are held to be the minimum standards <br />to insure safety on the public roads and highways. <br />(2) Permits <br />(a) Permits are required for the installation or erection of advertising signs, <br />billboard, posterboards and directory signs. <br />(b) The application for a permit to install or erect a.sign shall contain such <br />information as required by the Zoning Supervisor. <br />(c) The fee for the erection or installation of advertising signs, billboards, <br />posterboards and directory signs shall be Five. Dollars ($5.00) per one <br />hundred (100) square feet or fraction thereof. <br />(d). On issuance of a permit to erect or install a sign subject to a permit, the <br />Zoning .Supervisor shall issue a suitable identification tag to be placed <br />on the sign as to be trisible from the highway. <br />(3) Annual permits <br />(a) All signs for which a permit is required to erect or installed shall be <br />subject to an annual fee and permit. The permit issued for the erection <br />or installation of a sign shall be the annual permit until December 31 <br />of the year in which the permit is issued. The annual fee shall be Five <br />Dollars ($5.00) per one hundred (100) square feet or fraction thereof. <br />The permits shall be issued on an annual basis with the permit year being <br />from the first day of January to the 31st day of December next succeeding. <br />The fee shall not be prorated for a part of the year. Each year the <br />Zoning Supervisor shall notify each sign owner by mail not less than <br />fifteen days (15) before the expiration date of the annual permit of its <br />expiration. Upon payment of the annual permit fee, the Zoning Supervisor <br />shall issue a suitable identification tag to be attached to the sign or <br />sign post to be visible from the highway, such tag shall be' attached <br />within 30 days of its receipt by the sign owner. <br />(4) Removal of certain signs <br />(a) Any sign now or hereafter existing which no longer advertises a bonafide <br />business or a. product available shall be removed within thirty (30) days <br />- 56 - <br />
