<br />(17) Lot, Corner: A lot located at the intersection of two stets, any
<br />two corners of which have an angle of one hundred twenty (1 20) degrees
<br />or less, or is bounded by a curved street any two chords of which, on the
<br />inside of the curve, form an angle of one hundred twenty (120) degrees.
<br />or less.
<br />(18) Lot, Interior: A lot which is not a corner lot.
<br />(19) Lot Lines: The lines bounding a lot as described herein.
<br />'(20) Lot Width: For purposes of this ordinance the width' of a lot
<br />shall be the shortest distance between the side lines at the setback line. On
<br />lake shore lots the lot width shall be the distance between the side lot lines
<br />at the building line.
<br />(21) Non - conforming Use: A building or premises occupied by a use
<br />which does not conform to the regulations of the district in which it is
<br />located.
<br />(22) Park, Amusement: An area, publicly or privately owned, contain-
<br />ing amusement and recreationi facilities and devides, whether operated for
<br />profit or not.
<br />(23) Park, Public: An area owned by the county or a municipality
<br />within the county, operated for the convenience and recreation of the
<br />public, and containing such faciliti0s as the owning municipality shall
<br />see fit.
<br />(24) Parking Lot: A lot where automobiles are arked or stored tem-
<br />porarily, but not including the wrecking of automobiles or other vehicles
<br />or storage for the purpose of repair or - wrecking.
<br />(25) Person: Except when otherwise indicated by the context, the
<br />word person shall include the plural, or a company, . firm, corporation or
<br />partnership.
<br />(26) Professional Office: When conducted in a residential -district a
<br />professional office shall be incidental to the residential use of the premises,
<br />shall be conducted by a member of the resident family entirely within a
<br />residential building; and shall include the offices of doctors or practitioners,
<br />ministers, architects, landscape architects, professional engineers, lawyers,
<br />authors, artists, musicians and other recognized professional occupations
<br />conducted within residences, but not including personal services, such as
<br />barbers, beauticians and similar occupations.
<br />(27) Recreational Camp: An area containing one or more permanent
<br />buildings used occasionally or periodically for the accommodation of mem-
<br />bers of associations or groups for recreational purposes.
<br />(28) Rendering Plant: A plant for reduction of dead animals, or slaugh-
<br />tered animals not suitable for human consumption, to by- products, such as
<br />hide, skin, grease, bones, glue and soap, and for the storage of such
<br />by- products.
<br />(29) Roadside Stand: A structure used or intended to be used by the
<br />owner or occupant of the premises on which it is located for the sale of
<br />farm or garden products produced on the premises or adjacent premises._
<br />Such structure shall not be placed within the setback line and may not be
<br />used for the sale of or dealing in merchandise other than farm products
<br />locally produced. >'-
<br />(30) Rooming House: Same as lodging house.
<br />(31) Setback: The minimum horizontal distance from the front lot line
<br />of the lot or from the center of, the highway, measured parallel to the
<br />highway or the front lot line to the front of the building.

<br />(32) Service Station: Any building, structure or premises or other
<br />place used for the dispensing, sale ' or offering for sale of any motor fuel
<br />or oils, having pumps and storage tanks of a total capacity of not more
<br />than six thousand (6,000) gallons; also where battery, tire and similar
<br />services are rendered, but not including buildings or premises where such
<br />business is incidental to the conduct of a public garage used for the repair
<br />or storage of motor vehicles.
<br />(33) Sign: Anything erected, hung, suspended, painted or attached to
<br />any other structure, carrying words, letters, figures, phrases, sentences,
<br />names, designs, trade names or trade marks or any other device placed so
<br />as to be visible from a street or highway and calling attention to a business,
<br />trade, profession, commodity, product, person, firm or corporation: For
<br />urposes of this ordinance a highway marker, symbol, railroad crossing
<br />marker or signal, intended for the safety of the traveling public, or any
<br />ea the h ,l t a
<br />proval of the govrnin body ofsuch highway right be considered
<br />sign.
<br />(34) -Sign, Directory: A sign intended for the convenience of the
<br />traveling public, calling attention to a service station, garage, eating or
<br />drinking place, tourist camp, roadside stand, shop or similar business, cater-
<br />ing to the traveling public. Such sign shall not exceed twelve (12) square
<br />feet in gross area, be located not more than one -half mile in the approaching
<br />direction from the business advertised, and no product may be advertised
<br />which is not for sale at the point indicated.
<br />(35) Slaughter House: Any building or premises used commercially for
<br />the killing or dressing of cattle, sheep, swine, goats or horses, for human
<br />consumption and the storage, freezing and curing of meat and preparation
<br />of meat products.
<br />(36) -Story: The vertical distance of a building included between the
<br />surface of any floor and the floor next above it, or if there be no floor above
<br />it, then the space between such floor and ceiling; provided that a basement
<br />shall not be considered a story.
<br />(37) Story, Half: A story under a gable, hip or gambrel roof, the wall
<br />plates of which on at least two opposite exterior walls are not more than
<br />two feet above the floor of such a story.
<br />(38) Street: A public or private thoroughfare which affords a primary
<br />means of access to abutting property is a street to that property for the
<br />FMof this ordinance, except driveways to buildings. A driveway to a
<br />farm building shall not be considered a street for the purpose of deter-
<br />mining setback, 'even. though such driveway may have been designated a
<br />town road for the purpose of maintenance.
<br />(39) Street Line: The dividing line between the street) and the lot.
<br />(40) Structure: Anything erected or constructed, the use of which
<br />requires more or less permanent location on the ground. A sign, billboard
<br />or other advertising medium detached or projecting, and having a gross
<br />area of sixty (60) square feet of more, shall be considered a structure for
<br />the purposes of this ordinance. Telephone, telegraph and power poles and
<br />lines shall not be considered structures for the purposes of this ordinance.
<br />(41) Structural Alteration: Any change in the supporting members of
<br />a building, such as the bearing walls or partitions, columns, beams or
<br />girders, excepting such alterations as may be necessary for the safety of
<br />the building.
<br />(42) Tourist Camp: An area or premises on which are located per-
<br />manent buildings, either single cabins or buildings comprising two or
<br />more units under one roof., together with accessory buildings, for the
<br />temporary accommodation of tourists, but not for permanent occupancy
<br />except by the owner or occupant of the premises or his employees.
