February 1, 2006
Norbert Scribner
Land Division Review
RE: Parcel 0908-284-8040-8 correct illegal parcel status.
I want to rezone to fulfill land division and ordnances. I want to comply with the county and to
correct the illegal parcel status in anyway I can. I do not think this will affect density statistics,
since it is one house replacing another.
This property has been in the family for several generations. The history of this 40 acre parcel
that in the 1864 the Lamberts came over from Germany and made this their homestead. It was
my great -great grandfathers, passed to his son, then his son, then my mother, then me. Then in
the 1940's Hwy P redirected its route and cut straight through this 40 acre farm. The buildings
were on the east side of the parcel, and the house remained on the west side and Hwy P divided
the two. Since then the buildings on the east were taken down and made into farmland. I put
up a 90x90 horse facility on the west side and that became my livelihood. I did some rezoning
for that in 1994, so I thought all was ok with parcel/zone. I left my state job to pursue my
dream of working with the land and animals.
The house was lifted up and poured basement under it in 1967, so there is always some
water/light coming through where the house meets the concrete. The basement leaks, causing
mold, doors and windows are rotten and need replacement along with the roof, since most of
windows/doors are original, they are lacking any efficiency. I would like to be further away
from Hwy P because now that I have a 2 year old, I see the traffic closer than ever.
I would like to keep the foundation of the house and convert it to a shed/shop to store the
bobcat/lawnmower/sprayers and other farm equipment.
I now have the opportunity to work with my close personal friend Wayne Acker, to build a
new house to replace this one.
We started the process by going to Bob Lee, Chairman of the town of Dane, to make sure
everything was ok with the town and then started to obtain permits; I called electric, gas and
wanted to make sure everyone had plenty of time. I thought all was ok, until I got the attached
letter from Norm Scribner.
Sincerely,
Terri L. Karls (Helt)
6781 Hwy P
Dane, WI 53529
608-849-9522
Cel1698-5745
