Box 277 Waunakee, WI 53597-0277 Phone 608-849-4162 Fax 608-849-5062 <br /> <br />Intro: <br /> <br />Location: <br /> <br />Site <br />Access: <br /> <br />Description of <br />Operations: <br /> <br />Yahara Materials, Inc. has operated the quarry on the Norslien property <br />since June of 1990, under Dane County Conditional Use Permit (CUP) <br />#837 and 1638. This permit will expire on June 26, 2010. We are asking <br />for your consideration in the renewal of this CUP for another ten (10) year <br />term. <br /> <br />The quarry is described as the W1/2 of the SW ~ - NE ~ section 2, R7N- <br />R6E. Vermont Township, Dane County Wisconsin. <br /> <br />There is only one access to the quarry, which is through the driveway of <br />Norske Wood Products. <br /> <br />The quarry will be used to produce aggregate products for various <br />purposes, including but not limited to, construction of buildings and roads, <br />agricultural uses, and DOT projects. <br />A. Removing top soil and overburden to form berms on the <br />perimeter of site to expose the rock and to be used in the final <br />restoration of quarry site. <br />B. Drilling and blasting to loosen the rock from the quarry wall. <br />C. Crushing of the rock into appropriately sized material to meet <br />government and private contractor specifications. <br />D. Stockpiling the crushed rock and other aggregate by size and <br />specification. <br />E. Loading and hauling the processed rock from the quarry. <br />F. Equipment to be used: Bulldozers, loaders, rock drill, primary <br />and secondary crushers, screens, conveyors and truck scales. <br />G. Blasting Operations: A licensed blasting contractor will conduct <br />all blasting with notification given prior to blasting to all <br />surrounding neighbors who wish to be notified. A <br />seismograph will be used to measure vibrations in accordance <br />with state of Wisconsin blasting regulations. <br />H. Hours of Operation: Normal hours of operation will be from <br />6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and 6:00 a.m. to <br />2:00 p.m. on Saturday. <br />I. Dust Control/Spill Prevention: Dust control will consist of <br />water being sprayed on points of crushing operations where <br />the most effective control of dust can be obtained. There will <br />be no fuel stored on the site. <br />J. Frequency of Drilling, Blasting and Crushing Operations: <br />From four (4) to six (6) times per year depending on market <br />demand. <br />
