Both the City of Fitchburg and the Town of <br /> <br /> <br />Madison have approved the plat and both have written letters asking for the <br /> <br /> <br />County's cooperation and support of the plat. <br /> <br />Supporting objective to this goal: "Encourage cities, villages, and towns to <br /> <br />enter into j oint planning initiatives, including intergovernmental land use, service <br /> <br />and boundary agreements." The various intergovernmental agreements, the <br /> <br />Intergovernmental Cooperative Plan and the resulting CDP are such joint planning <br />initiatives. <br /> <br />Another supporting objective: "Encourage cities, villages and towns to <br /> <br />enter into joint planning initiatives when it comes to locating shared public <br /> <br />facilities and sharing public services." The various intergovernmental agreements, <br /> <br />the Intergovernmental Cooperative Plan and the resulting CDP are such joint <br /> <br />planning initiatives. <br />A land use supporting objective: "Promote the use of contaminated sites <br /> <br />(brownfields) for commercial and economic developments." The Novation <br /> <br />Campus is now a blighted brownfield site and fly ash dump. <br /> <br />Economic development supporting objective: "Encourage collaboration <br /> <br />between communities within Dane County for the purpose of economic <br /> <br />development." The Novation Campus is the product of such a collaboration <br /> <br /> <br />between the City of Fitchburg and the Town.
