<br /> <br />This residential intersection uses a different paving <br />texture to emphasize the pedestrian crossings. <br /> <br /> <br />A raised intersection puts crossing pedestrians at a <br />higher, more visible level. <br /> <br /> <br />A properly designed roundabout slows intersection traffic, but still <br />allows buses, emergency vehicles and trucks to pass. <br /> <br />G <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Oregon Road/Clausen Street (Intersection E): <br />The City of Fitchburg should continue to monitor <br />this intersection to assess if intersection changes <br />result in a sustained reduction in cut-through <br />traffic. <br />Oregon Road/ Rimrock Road (Intersection <br />F): This intersection requires improvement to <br />accommodate current and future traffic demands. <br />The specific improvements have not been <br />determined, however, the Novation Campus <br />Traffic Impact Analysis study recommends that <br />Oregon Road "T" into Rimrock Road. This <br />reconfiguration should discourage truck traffic <br />on Ski Lane. Appropriate bicycle and pedestrian <br />accommodations should be included regardless <br />of final design of this intersection. Compounding <br />the problem, the Rimrock Road/Engelhart Drive <br />intersection is an awkward intersection with <br />sight-distance problems. This intersection should <br />be included in the Oregon Road/Rimrock Road <br />study and improvements. <br />Pedestrian Crossings: Traffic calming measures <br />such as an intersection table top, bulb-outs and <br />prominent crosswalk lines should be installed <br />at important internal intersections. These <br />intersections include Deer Valley Road/ Country <br />Rose Court and at the Deer Valley Road entrance <br />to Southdale Park. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Neighborhood Identification Signage <br />Neighborhood residents suggested that the Southdale <br />Neighborhood should have an entry, similar to downtown <br />neighborhoods. Once the Lake George Road/Deer Valley <br />Road connection is made, its likely that this road will <br />become the most convenient and prominent entry into the <br />neighborhood. A Southdale Neighborhood identity sign <br />should be included in this connection. <br /> <br />Rimrock Road is also a major future gateway for the City <br />of Fitchburg. The City should place an identification sign <br />on the west side of Rimrock Road or within a median just <br />south of the Beltline. <br /> <br />SOUTHDALE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN_ <br />
