Fitchburg Involvement

- As you know, we are in the Town of Madison, NOT Fitchburg
Fitchburg's involvement stems from a cooperative agreement signed by the City
and the Town several years ago
Since then, the agreements between the parties have evolved
o Began with the intention of a shared zoning body
o The shared zoning body was never established by either municipality and
it was agreed that the Novation Cmnpus would continue to follow County
Zoning, due to staffing considerations
o A subsequent Memorandum of Understanding provided that:
· the Town would complete a neighborhood plan
· the Novation Campus CDP would be completed in collaboration
with Fitchburg STAFF on a separate track
· The purpose of this was to allow the Novation Campus to proceed
without delay
o The CDP was completed taking into account Fitchburg staff comments
and has been approved by the Town Plan Commission.
o The CDP specifically references the existing and proposed zoning as
identified in this petition
o The Mayor of the City of Fitchburg, after consulting staff, has written a
letter of support for this petition.
o I understand the City Attorney is here as well
