To S M From Scott Freitag
1 A) Regarding alternatives — the 60'x 117' pole building was built in 2010 and was laid out so
that the horse bam and the pole building could be connected together to provide a better use of
both, We did not know that the zoning laws had changed in regards to the addition to connect
them if we had known about the M.., rule change we would've gotten the permit at the same
time is the pole building was being built. In order to comply with the 10% rule we would need
moTe land and the land owners to the East or. West are not willing to sell any, This past summer
the 91 by 85' covered feed bunk was removed because it was no longer needed. The rest of the
buildings are being used for farming.
13) Did not consider any alternative regarding size because the total area 1.5'x 45' will have
wrnplete use, while anything of smaller size would be a waste or space,
2) Without the addition it would make using either building harder and less efficient in the day-
to-day care of the animals.
Examples 2A) it is much easier to use the walkway between the buildings than going outside to
get back and forth between. buildings. It is used year round and with the addition would be an
easy IS foot walk with one door to use for both the horse barn and pole building. No snow orice
to deal with in the winter and it will provide a safe close walk for all involved including the
horses as it will all be inside.
213) Sawdust for horse stall bedding would be stored in the addition make it easy and close to be
used in the barn stalls.
2C) Feed would be stored in addition also using large round bales of alfalfa off (5'x 5') that
need to be taken apart to feed in small amounts the bales would be in the addition and close to
the stalls for storage and feeding.
2D) Ater cleaning of manure from. the stalls it will be. piled up in the addition and later moved
with the skid steer. Currently the manure is carted up -bill for storage, being able to pile manure
would allow use of the skid steer, which is easier and safer in the winter months than manually
pushing it in wheelbarrows up -hill for storage. (approximately 1,00.f
vet)
2E) In addition it would allow one or two more horse stalls. Currently we have a need for one.
more stall.
3) Yes. Originally there were 40 acres including the buildings. Have lived on the farm here
since 1980. Got divorced in 1997 and the farm was split, 36 acres to ex-wife. The balance of 4
acres plus buildings remains with us currently.
z.i"d Ot7StiZ92809I:o1 22SZbTS809 dAd)ione:woad teat ziez-zi-ddw
