Wetland Delineation Report K& L Farm LLC <br /> populations,like black cherry (Prunus serotina-FacU) and gooseberry (Ribes missouriense-Upl) <br /> followed the tops of the ditch banks. <br /> The majority of the wetland boundaries occurred within crop fields and were quite gradual. <br /> There were no vegetative transitions to suggest the locations of these boundaries. Instead <br /> gentle slope breaks and the boundaries of wetland signatures observed on crop slides were <br /> used to locate wetland boundaries. <br /> Wetland Vegetation <br /> Most of the wetlands had been tilled and were devoid of vegetation. However the lowest <br /> segments of Wetlands 1,2,3 and 5 contained grassy areas composed of hydrophytic plants, <br /> including reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea-FacW),curly dock(Rumex crispus-Fac) and <br /> water plantain (Alisma subcordatum-Obl).Wetland 4,which unlike the others was not tilled in <br /> the current growing season, showed sparse cover of recently germinated plants that could <br /> not be identified. <br /> The wetland ditch banks supported ground layer vegetation dominated by reed canary grass, <br /> and shrub and tree layers comprised of buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica-Fac),box elder (Acer <br /> negundo-Fac) and silver maple (Acer saccharinum-FacW). <br /> Wetland Hydrology <br /> The wetlands' chief water sources are surface runoff from surrounding uplands and <br /> persistently high water tables in low areas.The wetlands probably saturate in the spring of <br /> most years and during rainy periods. They probably become dry by late spring of most years <br /> and during dry periods. Precipitation for the 3 months preceding the fieldwork was variable: <br /> USDA Field Office Climate Data—WETS Station: Stoughton,WI. <br /> 30% chance will have precipitation <br /> (inches) <br /> less than: more than: 2014 precipitation: <br /> February 0.51 1.55 1.36 Normal <br /> March 1.18 2.46 1.17 Dry <br /> April 2.37 4.04 4.89 Wet <br /> Primary hydrology indicators were noted in all but one (Plot 2A) wetland sample plot. These <br /> included"Surface Water", "Saturation","High Water Table","Algal Mat or Crust" and/or <br /> "Sparsely Vegetated Concave Surface". <br /> All wetland plots showed at least two secondary hydrology indicators.These included <br /> "Saturation Visible on Aerial Imagery", "Geomorphic Position" and"FAC Neutral Test". <br /> The plots showed"Geomorphic Position" due to their landscape positions in the lowest <br /> portions of crop fields where frequent,prolonged saturation and/or inundation were likely. <br /> All of the crop field wetland plots showed "Saturation Visible on Aerial Imagery" due to <br /> wetland signatures noted on Farm Service Agency air photos.Analysis of air photos for 7 <br /> normal precipitation years (1994, 1995, 1997,2002,2003,2004&2005) yielded different <br /> results for different wetlands.Wetlands 2,4 and 5 showed clear wetland signatures in the <br /> 4 Taylor Conservation LLC <br />
