INTRODUCTION <br /> The Town of Bristol, Dane County, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of <br /> Transportation, proposes replacing an existing bridge that carries Elder Lane over Maunesha <br /> river. The project is located in Section 23, TO9N, R11E, Town of Bristol, Dane County. See the <br /> attached map with the bridge site marked. <br /> This report shows the proposed structure's effects on the Maunesha River flow characteristics <br /> at the structure site. It includes information concerning flood magnitude and frequency, stream <br /> stage to discharge relationships, highwater elevation computations, and additional hydraulic <br /> information, as well as design constraints and the structure alternatives considered. <br /> DATA AVAILABLE <br /> Data and computations supporting the information presented in this report are available for <br /> inspection at the office of Ayres Associates, 3433 Oakwood Hills Parkway, Eau Claire, <br /> Wisconsin 54701. <br /> The site is located within the limits of a Zone A Flood Hazard mapped area on the Flood <br /> Insurance Rate Map (FIRM)for Dane County, dated January 2, 2009. The community panel <br /> number is 55025CO285G. <br /> Drainage area at the site was obtained by using the Purdue University watershed delineation <br /> website and comparing the area to the USG S Quadrangle Maps. <br /> Stream and floodplain characteristics are based on conditions observed on December 27, 2013. <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The Structure Survey Report and Preliminary Plan illustrate the proposed bridge replacem ent <br /> site description and include the following: <br /> • Preliminary Plan and Profile Sheets <br /> • Contour Map <br /> • Site Location Exhibits <br /> • Cross Section(s) Plot <br /> • Photographs <br /> • Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) <br /> The Maunesha River drainage basin at the propo sed site is approximately 24 square miles. <br /> The upstream and downstream reaches are well defined with all normal flow being confined <br /> within the defined stream banks. The stream banks are lined with heavy grass, brush, and <br /> trees. Adjacent land within the Maunesha River floodplain is primarily agricultural and wooded. <br /> The terrain is gently rolling. <br /> According to local officials, floating debris and ice have not been a conc ern at this site. <br /> Roadway overflow has not been observed at this site. <br /> The Maunesha River is a meandering stream that flows under Elder Lane no skew. The <br /> Maunesha River is on a curve at the structure.
