APPLICATION FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
COMMUNICATIONS TOWER
FOR TELEVISION RELAY USE
FOR WHPN-TV-57
- PAGE TWO -
WHPN-TV-57, a new television station recently licensed by the
Federal Communications Commission to serve southern Wisconsin,
wishes to locate it's business offices and studio at 2814 Syene Road.
This site is the building formerly used for offices for Auto Glass
Specialists. This building and site are bordered on the north by the
Auto Glass "installation center', on the south by the Auto Glass
warehouse, and on the west by a automobile storage yard.
The existing building is immediately suitable for use as television
station business offices and studios. However, a specialized tower of
180 feet in height must be constructed in order to send (relay) TV
programming from this building to the transmitting tower located near
Evansville, Wisconsin.
Although there are a number of other communications towers in the
same general area, the recently constructed 150 foot tall PCS
telephone tower east of the site is not suitable for this very
specialized use due to location, available height of only 130 feet, and
antenna loading considerations. The other communications towers
in the area are also unsuitable due to a lack of wind loading and twist
capacity.
The proposed WHPN-TV-57 Television Relay tower would be built as
a co-locatable multi-user tower.
