Mineral Extraction
1. STATEMENT OF OPERATION
a. The mineral extraction operation will be to mine sand, gravel and establish a rock
quarry for crushing base material for road, curb and gutter, and sidewalks and other
related uses.
b. The owner intends to start as soon as possible in 1999 with mineral extraction on the
conditional use area and setup a portable concrete mix plant in operation. A 240' X 360'
graveled use area will be constructed for parking, material storage, concrete mix plant
and office trailer. A chain link fence will be constructed around five acres with a three
wire barb on the top to protect the operation.
c. Any water to be used in the operation shall be from a private well. If water is to be
used for washing material at a later date, it will be constructed to take advantage of
groundwater runnoff in a settling pond and reused or recycled. This is not planned at
this time. Present runoff at the North end of the property will be allowed to continue
in the present location.
d. The estimated time of completion will be the year 2030.
e. The land reclamation would precede along with the mineral extraction and finish
within eighteen months of closing the operation.
f. The land has not been used for the last fifteen or twenty years and has grown up in
natural vegetation, shrubs and trees. No buildings or structures exist on this
property today. A large area in the Northeast quarter of this property was excavated for
mineral extraction fifteen to twenty years before. This explains an overburden of fill
found on the Northeast area of the property and on a large part of the wetland\to the
South.
This property was registered in 1969 with and approved by the Dane County Zoning
Administrator and shall be considered a non conforming use for mineral extraction
(1019.1 (6)).
g. The proposed use after reclamation will be real estate development for residential or
commercial purposes.
2.SEE SITE PLAN
a. (see site plan #13900-L) for site location.
b. (see site plan #13900-L) for proposed final grades.
c. (see site plan #13900-L) for residences within 600 feet.
d. No lakes, rivers or streams are within 800 feet of this property.
e. (see site plan #13900-L) for existing roads and proposed drives.
