r+ .
E-2
PAULSON & ASSOCIATES, LLC
SURVEYING AND ENGINEERING
Parkview Office Building (608) 846-2523
136 West Holum Street
DeForest, Wisconsin 53532
January 26, 1998
Fitchburg Mineral, LLC
Payne & Dolan, Inc..
Subject: Proposed Mineral Extraction
Herfel Properties, Town of Verona
At your request, I have studied the potential traffic impact for the subject site along
STH 69, south of the City of Verona. I am suggesting improvements to STH 69 that
should be considered in order to provide a safe access for this type of land use.
You have indicated that the operations area would be located on the 40 acres
described as the SE 1/4 of the SE 'A of Section 28, Town of Verona. Lands west of
STH 69 and north of Riverside Road are also under your control but are reserved for
future phases.
Site Specifics
1. ADT on STH 69 is 3,000 vehicles per day (1996 WisDOT data southeast of the site
near Paoli).
2. Visibility is good in all directions. There are no high banks or steep cut slopes
adjacent to the roadway.
3. Alignment of STH 69 is straight and on a slight upgrade to the north (less than 0.3
percent). A 6-degree horizontal curve to the southeast begins approximately 560
feet south of the Riverside Road intersection.
4. Right-of-way on both STH 69 and Riverside Road is 66 feet with no existing vision
triangles by either deed or easement.
Anticipated Use of Access
1. Approximately 300,000 tons of aggregate annually would be hauled from the site.
2. 90 percent, or more, would be trucked north along STH 69 toward the Verona
Bypass (USH 18-151).
