COMPOSITE REPORT - Page 2 APPLICATION NO.
STAFF COMMENTS
REGIONAL PLANNING
CUP 1476. This proposed mineral extraction site is associated with the reconstruction of USH 12&
18. This appears to be a logical site to minimize haul distances.
The site is near Little Door Creek, which raises concern for erosion and runoff. It is a very visible site
and therefore should probably be limited to the duration of the road construction.
Conditions should be similar to those recently imposed on other mineral extraction sites. Conditions
should emphasize:
Erosion and runoff control
Specific relationship with the highway project
Reclamation of the site for farmland.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (septic, etc.)
DANE COUNTY HIGHWAY
C.U.P. 1486. CTH"N' is a controlled access highway. A controlled access permit changing the use
and location will be required from the Transportation Committee. The access will require an improved
intersection with a passing lane if traffic warrants. At this time we are unclear as to the amount of
projected traffic that will be using the access assuming that an alternative access will be utilized during
the construction of USH 12. An approved design will be required prior to the construction of this
access.
The relocated entrance as noted on the conceptual is not acceptable since it does not conform to the
controlled access ordinance, it is closer than 600 feet to an existing access. Also, construction of an
access would be difficult at this location due to the amount of fill that would be required to construct an
access. The access could be relocated further to the south and still have adequate sight vision.
OTHER
