Speed Limit The speed limit on Oncken Road should be reduced from its current posting of 55 miles per hour(mph). Given the construction of the school and limited sight distance, I would suggest that the town post a 40 to 45 mph speed limit on the entire road. In addition, I would also suggest a school zone posting in the vicinity of the school which would further reduce the speed during school hours. Roadway Width • The road is currently 20 feet wide, which is typical for a local town road. This would be appropriate if turn-out lanes at the entryways to the school were constructed, and shoulders in the area of the school should be considered. CTH M Intersection There is a concern with traffic backup on Oncken Road at the CTH M intersection resulting in driveway access problems for the resident at the southern end of Oncken Road; therefore, Oncken Road at the CTH M intersection has been recommended for channelization for right and left turn lanes. This will reduce the number of cars waiting to access CTH M, since the right turn will be the heaviest and require the least amount of waiting time. M325A003�M325-97A�rev.
