Ab
As to the claims that I or the Town Board have been in any way arbitrary in our actions
regarding rezoning and in particular to the other Commercial rezone which was
mentioned I find these charges outrageous. The request to rezone for the vet clinic was
passed unanimously. Ms. Gottschalk was not even at the meeting so I do not know where
her knowledge comes from. The Town Board did require the petitioner to find a suitable
location, which they did. As to the review of the structure we did have questions
regarding it, in particular there was concern by the Town Board as to the kennel
operation. I think any Town Board would have concern when dogs are boarded away
from home and thus tend to be anxious and perhaps noisy. The petitioner addressed these
concerns to the satisfaction of the Town Board.
Finally, after the hearing my understanding from Ms. Gottschalk was that they were not
aware of the deed restriction being put on this parcel to limit its use. It is my belief from
talking to other people today that at least some of the people who signed the petition
presented by the Gottschalk's were led to believe that this rezoning would allow any
commercial use currently listed in the Zoning Ordinances. It is obvious from the Deed
Restriction that I presented with our petition that we are limiting the use exclusively.
I would like to request that the Dane County Zoning Staff review the names on this
petition and contact a sampling of them to determine if their signing of this petition is
based upon an accurate portrayal of what is being proposed.
I have also enclosed a letter that I have sent out to the area residents clarifying what is
proposed in this rezoning and inviting them to write to Dane County Zoning with their
opinion on this matter. If the Zoning Department or the ZNR Committee feel that
postponing this matter until May 19 is in order to allow for this research and any replies,
we have no objections. I have also enclosed the information that I referred to at the public
hearing for entrance into the records.
Thank you,
Ronald ;cobson
