Correspondence / Memorandum State of Wisconsin
Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection Farmland Preservation Irogmar--r- —
0
\
Date: August 8, 1997
To: Mark Roffers e County Planning & Development
From: Diane Milligan iti \ AUG I 2. 1997
Subject: Dane County Zoning Ordinance Text `% t
,.PLANfVt{VG&DEIIELOME
PftOFETY RECORDS _j
Enclosed you'll find the documents from our files pertaining to required a iiendments to —--°- "-
County's zoning ordinance text. The most recent memo from Keith Foye ftrC'aTiornstead clarifies
that the current ordinance text is certified through 1997, as ATCP 51 has not yet been promulgated.
Since Chapter 71 requires that farmers be covered by an exclusive agricultural zoning ordinance at the
end of the calendar year in order to receive farmland preservation tax credits, the text certification
request must be submitted by July 1, 1998 and certified by December 31, 1998 in order for eligibility
to continue uninterrupted.
The other documents detail the specific points that must be addressed or clarified. The checklist that
Kate Lawton used to review the ordinance text provides the most specific information regarding what
needs to be changed. Although the extension was granted as a result of Jeanie's request that text
amendments wait until the final rule is promulgated, we are using the checklist to implement the
provisions required by statute. The new requirements based on the rule are identified (Checklist C.
6., New Residences on Subsize Parcels) and Kate indicated that they were not applicable. Both of
these conditions are currently part of Dane County's ordinance, albeit as permitted uses rather than
conditional uses.
Please feel free to call me at 224-4637 after August 24, or Keith Foye at 224-4603 if you have any
questions about these documents or our process. I look forward to working with you on this.
