OAK STREET
OREGON, WISCONSIN 53575
608/835-3913
VILLAGE OF OREGON
TOWNSHIP OF RUTLAND
TOWNSHIP OF OREGON
VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN
TOWNSHIP OF DUNN
DATE: February 07, 1995
TO: Town of Oregon Board
FROM: Jeffrey D. Sholts, Acting Chief(31b0
J
Oregon EMS District C'
RE: Land purchase by the Reformed Congregation Church
(585 Tipperary Road, Section 29)
I was contacted this past weekend by a concerned citizen of
the Town of Oregon. I was advised that this land would be used for
a camp ground. I was then advised that this land was surrounded by
DNR property which is a open hunting area, and wet-lands.
I would like to express my concerns on behalf of Oregon EMS
District in writing.
I would like the following items considered before a decision
is made.
1. Access to the property should be looked at. You would
need a drive way wide enough to accommodate two way
traffic of emergency vehicles. It should also be able
to accommodate heavy vehicles. Ambulances and Fire
Fighting Apparatus are very heavy vehicles, in comparison
to a personal vehicle.
2 . I would also have a concern with injuries. There is
always a high chance of injury when you have large crowds
in a small areas. This also increases with having open
hunting land bordering this property. A simple fence
with NO HUNTING signs posted on it will not stop bullets
or arrows.
3 . If there are campsites, there should be a road to each
site to accommodate emergency vehicles. This would also
include either clearing of trees or trimming back of
trees.
