BROOKLYN VOLUNTEER <br /> FIRE DISTRICT <br /> Brooklyn, Wisconsin 53521 <br /> February 14 , 1995 <br /> Dane County Zoning Commission <br /> City-County Building <br /> • Madison, WI 53703 <br /> Dear Sir : <br /> The Brooklyn Fire Department is concerned about the re-zoning for <br /> a religious camp being proposed to be built on the property at 585 <br /> Tipperary Road in the Township of Oregon. <br /> This parcel of property is surrounded by wetlands , marsh, and woods <br /> and is very vulnerable to wild fires . Once a fire has started in <br /> this area, suppression is very difficult due to the nature of the <br /> area . Most of the fire suppression would have to be done by <br /> backpacks and brooms . The driveway to the property is also very <br /> long and narrow and is not adequate for heavy firefighting <br /> equipment to travel on or pass . The parcel has only one entrance <br /> and if a fire should start in the area of the camp the driveway <br /> would not be adequate to bring heavy firefighting equipment to the <br /> scene . <br /> Sincerely, <br /> ziet a 0- <br /> Philip A.
