You and I met Samantha and Kathleen, church
representatives,at the site for the proposed commercial building. Samantha and Kathleen reviewed the site
plan for the proposed building with us. We walked the building site and discussed driveway/emergency
vehicle access, and occupancy of the building. The proposed building will set up on a smill hill. Occupancy
will be on a reservation basis only.
The building site will be accessed down a 24-foot wide gravel drive'by.along the same path as the existing
driveway (see attached site plan). A loop will be added to the drivey-at id provide for
circulation. The loop will also be 24-foot wide gravel and will have an end radius adequate for fire trucks to
stay on the gravel during a turn. Off-road/driveway parking and handicap parking will be provided. The loop
is between 20 and 30 feet from the building at its closest point.
We discussed the grade(slope)of the loop past the building. The existing hill has a slope exceeding 10%.
Fire trucks have a difficult time climbing slopes over 10%. They intend to modify the grade of the hill and
keep it under 10%.
We measured the width of areas along the existing driveway, and found the 24-foot driveway could be
accommodated. We also looked at the existing culvert crossing the creek. The culvert is 24 feet wide. We
discussed angling the driveway slightly to provide a straighter approach over the culvert, and adding
reflectorized post markers to delineate the edge of the driveway. Samantha and Kathleen agreed to the
suggestions for the culvert area.
The proposed driveway appears to be adequate emergency vehicle access and occupant access. Please call if
you have any additional questions about this site.
Sincerely,
MSA Professional Services,Inc.
446.1.0grei
Katherine Kalscheur, P.E.
Senior Project Engineer
Baraboo.Wisconsin Beaver Dam,Wisconsin Friendship,Wisconsin Rhinelander,Wisconsin Galena,Illinois
2302 INTERNATIONAL LANE.SUIT 201 •MADISON, W1 53704-3127
608-242-7779 • 1-800-446-0679 • FAX;608-242-5664
WEB ADDRESS:www.msa-ps.coin Gv.sconcTs1Iall ooIIWTRKIKoI*PO
■
