January 12, 1998
To: Middleton Town Board
From: Joel & Vicky Dohmeier
RE: Manure Plan
This letter is to inform you that as part of the consideration that takes place regarding our
rezoning petition from A-i to RH1, we have come up with a manure plan in order to
alleviate some concerns of both Board Members and residential parties.
We have spoken with and received the verbal o.k. from Gene Meyers, a local farmer in
the Town of Middleton, to spread our horse manure on his fields every two weeks
throughout the course of any given year. The Miller family has been very good friends
with Gene and his family over the years and he is more than happy to help out and get
some benefit out of it!
For those of you who know Gene, he has sizable acreage in the Town and his property is
located off of Mineral Point Rd.
Furthermore, to alleviate any concerns about Fly's, we commit to providing our horses
with a supplement called"Farnam Fly Control", which kills fly eggs and larvae in horse
manure.
We feel this should more than adequately meet the concern of both the Board and
residences in regard to these two issues. In talking with neighbors both across the street
and adjacent to the property, this was not felt to be any concern of theirs as they
personally noticed no increase in fly population or adverse smell due to our horses which
were on our property for this past summer. However, we continue to try and be
responsive to as many of the concerns as we possible can—and that are within reason.
Thanks.
