September 23, 1997 <br /> To whom it may concern: <br /> Vicky Dohmeier has asked me to comment on her behalf with regard to a number of <br /> concerns relative to the maintenance of horses on her property. As an equine veterinarian, I'm <br /> witness to a wide range of stabling and boarding situations (from questionable to excellent) <br /> throughout Dane and surrounding counties. Certainly, the set-up and facilities at the Dohmeier's <br /> falls well within safe and humane limits for the horses and the surrounding neighbors (i.e., <br /> adequate fencing, pasture for grazing, and stabling facilities). In this regard, their set-up is not <br /> substantially different from those conditions found on numerous private properties throughout <br /> Dane County,particularly on the west side of the Madison area. <br /> The Dohmeier's horses are well-cared for, even-tempered, adequately exercised, and <br /> receive regular veterinary attention. From the standpoint of an equine practitioner and horseman, <br /> there is nothing that I have observed with regards to the Dohmeier's property that would logically <br /> preclude them from stabling and maintaining horses there in an adequate and humane fashion,and <br /> in a manner consistent with and complimentary to the surrounding locale. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> P.G.
