Wm. E. &Jill M. McTague
a? 7734 W. Old Sauk Rd.
fill Verona, WI 53593-9601
January 16, 1998
Town of Middleton Board of Supervisors
Re: Dohmeier Rezoning- 4042 Keewatin Trail
Miller Rezoning - 7722 W. Old Sauk Rd.
Gentlemen:
Please accept the following as our input as we are unable to attend the public hearing on
these matters.
We have no objection whatsoever to the proposed zoning change for both of the
properties listed above from A-1 Agricultural to RH-1 Rural and, in fact, we strongly favor the
change.
We have lived at 7734 W. Old Sauk Rd. for nineteen years. Horses were being kept on
what has become the Dohmeier and Miller properties at the time that we purchased our own
property. Horses were kept there for a number of years after we moved in and we were pleased
last Spring to see them return.
For at least a few months during 1997 horses were being kept both on the property
behind us and across the street from us. We found that our close proximity to these animals
caused us no problems of any kind. There was no appreciable noise associated with the animals.
We did not notice there to be any problem with horse flies or any other bugs for that matter.
We were also pleased to see that the Dohmeiers were extremely vigilant in caring for
both their horses and their property. Their property is properly fenced to insure that the horses
never wandered off their land and we observed them picking up and disposing of the animals
waste material on a regular basis.
A Realtor who has visited our property has assured us that horses being kept on the
property adjoining ours would have no negative effect on the value or marketability of our
property and could possibly be an enhancement due to the rural nature of our setting.
We hope that the Board will see fit to approve both of the above zoning changes.
Thank you,
cc: Dane County Board
V - ill°Liir
Wm.
