The overall system design looks like a honeycomb--a network of interconnected cells with
antennae at or near their centers. Each cell has a radius of 2 to 4 miles. In order to
provide seamless coverage, an antenna must be placed at each center, otherwise holes
appear in the network. The facility we are proposing for the Town of Dunn represents
one of these cell centers.
Existing and Proposed Use of the Property
The proposed facility would be located on an existing Ameritech tower at the NE corner
of Highway 51 and Dyreson Road in the Town of Dunn, WI, in the NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of
sr..9 tion 22-6710, parcel ID #14-0610-221-8000-4. The existing tower is on Dane County
Co`ridiftional,/[Jse Permit #,373 iss ei in November, 1986. The Conditional Use area is
100' x 100' of an 18.9 acre 1()A11 legal description of the 100' x 100' area is
attached. The current zoning designation of the parcel is A-2. The area around the tower
is cultivated farmland, and would remain as such. PrimeCo will lease approximately 150
square feet of the 100' x 100' area from Ameritech. PrimeCo is requesting a Conditional
Use Permit to allow for the construction of a telecommunications facility. The facility
would include:
• 6-9 antennae mounted on a 12' x 12' x 12' triangular platform and attached to the
tower. The antennae are approximately 6.5' long, 6" wide, 2" deep. The antenna
array will be mounted between 150 and 180 feet above ground level. The existing
tower is 290 feet tall.
• a 9' x 12' x 10' equipment shelter to house the transmitting and receiving equipment
for the antennae. The equipment shelter will be surrounded by a chain link fence. The
Access to the site is an existing road.
Schedule of Development Time Frame
Construction of this site, if approved, would require only 2-4 weeks and would begin
immediately after receipt of building permit. PrimeCo hopes to have its PCS network
functioning in early 1997.
Reason for Proposed Structure and Location
In order to provide seamless coverage throughout its service area, PrimeCo must have
antenna facilities at specific locations. This particular location would provide coverage
within a 3 mile radius which includes the Town of Dunn, much of Highway 51 and County
Highway B.
This particular facility will not have very little effect on the existing aesthetic of the
surrounding area. The equipment shelter and antennae will blend in with Ameritech's
shelter and tower.
Additional Information
• This proposal will be filed with the FAA. If required, PrimeCo will install any
necessary lights to the antenna platform.
• The communications facility:
a) will not be detrimental to or endanger the public health, safety, morals, comfort
