I promised them that,unlike my
predecessors, I would be their advocate in any way I could concerning the RPC and Dane County as a
whole. It is in that informal capacity that I write to you today.
On June 24,your committee will be holding a public hearing on a proposed rezoning for the Johnson
property in the Town of Christiana. The proposal includes a Bed and Breakfast and a vague
"commercial"proposal. I was contacted by the Village of Cambridge, which had concerns over the
nature of this proposed rezoning near the village limits.
I strongly urge you to grant the Village of Cambridge its request that this rezone be tabled for two
months while they have an opportunity to study its potential impacts. RPC and county staff
comments point out substantial problems with this rezoning request. Given the nature of the staff
comments,I believe that Cambridge is showing remarkable open-mindedness by not asking for an
outright denial of this zoning petition.
I know you have a difficult task and your consideration is appreciated.
Sincerely
ave Gochberg
Village Government Representative,Dane County Regional Planning Commission
Cc: Supervisor Lyman Anderson
Supervisor Karen Cornwell
Supervisor John Hendrick
Supervisor Kevin Kestersen
Supervisor Scott McCormick
Supervisor Phil Salkin
Supervisor Bob Salov
Village of Cambridge
Town of Christiana
61 ze.k
