•
TOWN OF MIDDLETON
7555 WEST OLD SAUK ROAD
VERONA, WI 53593
July 22, 1997 L
Mr. Norbert Scribner, Z 3l
Authorized Representative w►
Land Division Review
Planning & Development C. PLANNING■ & DEVELOt
City-County Building, Room 116 ZONING
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Scribner:
The Town of Middleton Board of Supervisors, acting in a legally noticed and convened
meeting on July 21, 1997, denied the application of Joel and Vicki Dohmeier to rezone their
property at 4042 Keewatin Trail from A-1 to RH-1 to provide zoning compliance to permit
livestock (horses).
Supervisor Bakken moved, seconded by Supervisor Riker, to reject the rezoning petition.
MOTION CARRIED.
The Board's action to deny the permit came after nearly an hour of testimony and input from
neighbors. I would note for the record that nine (9) property owners in the immediate vicinity
opposed the rezoning and two property owners supported the rezoning. In addition, another
property owner submitted a written objection to the rezoning.
I believe that it may also be helpful to the Committee to understand some of the history
associated with this property.
1) The Dohmeier property was originally part of a 6.1 acre parcel owned by Herman
Miller, Mrs. Dohmeier's father. The property was zoned A-1.
2) Mr. Miller submitted a Certified Survey Map on the property in September of 1993.
The CSM was approved and resulted in dividing the property into two parcels. The
Dohmeier parcel contains 2.8 acres and the residual Miller property contains 3.3 acres.
Both parcels remained zoned A-1.
3) Mrs. Dohmeier maintained 2 horses on the Miller property during her younger years.
However, prior to October of 1996 horses had not been maintained on the property for
some 8 years according to information provided to the Town Board by the Dohmeiers.
