August 25, 1997
Dane Co. Planning and Development
Zoning Division
Zoning Committee
Re: Petition 6997
Item # 21
Dear Committee;
As a resident of Black Hill road since 1971 , it has very
recently been brought to my attention that a change in
zoning is sought on the behalf of Chris Loper on a 3.8 acre
parcel on Black Hill Road.
I admire the hard work being done by Chris Loper and I
certainly do NOT oppose the idea of his having a house for
his family.
However, I do think that an alternate parcel , of which there
are many, should be considered. I have discussed this both
with Chris Loper and Dane Twp. chairman, Robert Lee.
The proposed parcel (see photo labelled proposed) seems to
be a less than ideal choice for the following reasons:
a. All six other homes on Black Hill road are recessed
away from the road or built into the woods so as to
preserve rural character . (see photos #1-#6) .
Immediately around the corner is a new home site
being excavated at a distance from Springfield-Lodi
road. (see photo"New Construction" )
b. Use of cropland (see photo"proposed") for a dwelling
could be minimized at an alternate site
c. Safety. The proposed parcel is located on a stretch
of Black Hill road where there is ice and poor road
conditions all winter long. An increase in traffic
and activity in this shaded, hilly, icy section of
the road makes me fear for the safety of the Loper
family and visitors.
I am sure that the Zoning Committee will make a decision
which is wisest .
S cere
n-d.l
d ,-a
George Bulovskf
Caryn Bulovsky
7272 Black Hill Road
Lodi , WI 53555
