No. 1311
Dear Committee Members:
Please consider this a response to various materials that have recently been submitted on
behalf of Mr. Karl Waters in this matter. I am referring specifically to a letter of February 22
from Attorney Kristine Long, as well as a report from Richard Thompson, firearms consultant,
and a statement by realtor Sherman Geib.
We have now had a total of five hearings, and Mr. Waters was represented by counsel
at each of them. At the first hearing the Town of Verona Zoning and Planning Committee voted
unanimously to approve our request. At the first hearing before Town of Verona the matter was
tabled pending resolution of several new issues and a visit to the site. Last Thursday the Town
of Verona voted unanimously in support of our request. The City of Verona also had an
advisory hearing and voted unanimously not to oppose our request. We also had a hearing
before your committee on February 27th.
Ms. Long has requested that she be allowed to speak and present testimony at your
meeting tonight but virtually everything raised in her correspondence has been previously
addressed in prior hearings, including the most recent one which she attended. At that hearing
we agreed to put up a barbed-wire fence along the border of the property adjoining Mr. Waters
land. In addition we are going to place a solid fence alongside the 200 yard shooting bench
between the bench and the house that Mr. Waters built.
®46D09
