while the rezoning process continues. Only the landowner and his friends can fly during
this re-zoning process.
We always strive to be respectful towards the surrounding community. We have a
maximum noise limit for all models of 96 decibels at 20 feet. We also only allow flying
of noisy models (Gas & Glow) from 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Electrics fly sun-up to dusk. (but
are quiet) Other than the family friendly events, typically there would be 4 to 8 people
flying at the field throughout the day at various times during flying season. (generally
late April through October.) "Mother Nature" has a lot to do with when people fly as
well, if it is really windy, people usually choose not to fly.
Visitors are always welcome to come and watch and check things out. It is a very
positive activity for people of all ages. This fall one of our younger members is heading
off to college to study aeronautical engineering, another is already attending college at
the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida and another younger member has
gone from models to flying commercial jets. Last summer, I instructed a nine year old
student who has now soloed and become a very proficient rc pilot. We also have
another member who is in his late 50's who started receiving instruction last summer
and is continuing to improve his flying skills this year. As you can see, it is a hobby for
all ages.
We are hoping you will be willing to support our club's activities and this new flying
field in your neighborhood. You will receive a notice from the town about the meeting
on September 23rd. If you are willing to attend in support, that would be greatly
appreciated. If you are unable to attend but are willing to email the town clerk in
support of this, that would also be appreciated.
Her email is: clerk @towncg.net.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at the address below.
Thank you,
Dave Rush
President
Madison Area Radio Control Society
president@marcswi.org
