We have gone by the Vermont Town rules and our request was
approved. (See attached.) Mr. Parrell, Vermont Town Chairman, spoke in our favor at the
county board public hearing.
We have seen the petition against us but do not feel the people who have signed have
signed because of the land use issue as stated.
Dave Moyer stood up at the county meeting, June 10, and said he thinks the site should
be moved to Hwy. F next to our house, which is 1/4 mile down the road and also on Al zoning.
To us that means he has no problem with the house, he just doesn't want it across the road from
him. He did not come to any Vermont meetings when this was an issue. Jerome Helminstine
came to us and said he believes you should have to sell 100 acres to build one home. He also
said he would sell off his land if his sons do not want to farm. We suggested he run for the town
board or at least come to some board meetings. Mr. Ludolph signed the petition. Just after we
bought this property his son stopped and asked if we had a building site for sale. I would like to
know if we would have sold it to him, if Mr. Ludolph would have signed a petition against it.
The other names on this petition have voiced opinions of wanting no more new homes in
this area. I can understand that view. I also do not like all the new building and if my neighbor
wants to put up another home, I would not be happy. I also have no right to oppose it. This
parcel was for sale for eight years before we purchased it. Any of these neighbors could have
purchased it and done what they wanted. We also never advertised this land. It is my sister-in-
law, who grew up here, who wants to buy it.
