• 1
June 3, 1996
Hiawatha Gun Club
6680 Ripp Drive
Dane, WI 53529
Dane County Land Regulation
City County Building
Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. Rm 116
Madison, WI 53709
RE: Petition to Rezone Existing Property
Enclosed please find a filing fee of$150.00 for purposes of a Rezone Request as well as a
Conditional Use Permit. The attached warranty deed has the legal description. The tax parcel
number is 32-0909-303-9010-8. Hiawatha Gun Club is a public, non-profit organization.
Statement of Intent:
In a recent review of our original Land Contract, dated March 1970, we discovered our zone
rating identified as A-1 Agricultural. This property has never been utilized for agricultural
purposes, however, it is surrounded by crop land in all four directions. See attached plat
drawing.
Please see attached scaled drawing for dimensions of property. The property is rectangular in
shape and consists of the following soil types:
50% -- RNC2, grade III
30% -- RNB, grade II
10% -- SOE, grade VII
10% -- SCD2, grade IV
The property has approximately 40% evergreen and softwood trees, the remainder is prairie grass
and lawn grass. There is a gravel surfaced driveway leading from Ripp Drive on the west
boundary. There is a single story concrete block building on slab which measures 24' by 72'.
This building has male and female restrooms and is insulated and heated. Also on the property
are four(4) concrete trap houses and two (2) skeet houses. These are target facilities and
measure 8 feet x 10 feet. All facilities are locked when not in use.
On the original request for zoning, our proposed use statement was for trap and skeet shooting
ranges. The property was approved for this purpose and has been used in that regard since April
1970. Currently, we are actively shooting clay targets. It has come to our attention, as of May
23, 1996, that there are more updated zoning descriptions that should apply to this property. We
understand that we would be more properly zoned as RE-1 Recreational. It is our wish and intent
to keep up with ongoing changes.
