• JAMES VAN DEURZEN <br /> 10250 MATHEWSON ROAD <br /> MAZOMANIE, WI 53560 <br /> 608-795-2336 <br /> July 11 , 1996 <br /> • <br /> INTENT to REZONE <br /> I have been creating my art at my home for the past 11 years . <br /> In 1984 I purchased a turn of the century farm and have <br /> maintained the many buildings in an original state . <br /> When I purchased my farm I called the then building inspector <br /> to inquire what permits I would need to operate my art studio . <br /> His advice to me was that .1 needed to do nothing as long as <br /> I was not constructing or altering buildings externally , adding <br /> to my septic system, hanging a sign, storing material outdoors <br /> or engaging in ongoing retail sales . I engaged in none of the <br /> above and therefore believed that I was in compliance . <br /> I have served on the Mazomanie Town Board for almost four years . <br /> In that time we have encouraged many people with home based <br /> businesses and to the absolute best of my knowledge have never <br /> asked for a rezone unless there was new construction or any of <br /> the above mentioned conditions . <br /> Having recently become the chairman of the Zoning and Natural <br /> Resources. Committee I felt it incumbent to investigate my own <br /> zoning to insure compliance with present zoning standards . <br /> In consultation with the zoning admiistrator and upon his advice <br /> T am petioning to rezone from the RH-I category to the A-2(4) <br /> category with a Conditional Use Permit for the following <br /> permitted uses in the A-2• zoning category . <br /> CUP for LIMITED FAMILY BUSINESS <br /> I earn my living as an artist/glassblower and use several <br /> existing buildings on my property for this purpose , they <br /> are the following : <br /> -20X30 foot metal machine shed for my glassblowing 'shop <br /> -18X65 foot former chicken house that I use for grinding and <br /> polishing and for packaging <br /> -16X20 foot former granary used for the storage of packing <br /> materials and raw glass <br /> • -former(ceramic block)milk house also used for the storage of <br /> packing materials <br /> HORSE BOARDING <br /> I do not literally board horses but I do rent an approx . two <br /> acre pasture and my loafing shed to my neighbor for $40 month. <br />
