PLANNING v DEVELOPMENT
James Van Deurzen PROPERI r .::3ROS
Zoning and Natural Resources Committee
City County Building
Madison, WI 53709
Dear Mr. Van Deurzen,
My name is Sue Cottingham. I have been a resident of the Mariner's Cove Condominium
Association for the past year and a half. I am writing to formally lodge a protest against the
proposed development that has been suggested by the Von Rutenbergs (ref. CUP #1408.)
I feel that this development would be detrimental to the quality of life out here and would
create serious problems with over population, additional traffic problems, extremely unpleasant
environmental problems, which would all contribute to decreased property values. When I
bought my condo a year and a half ago, there was not so much as a hint that this could be
possible. I feel that this development would be serious mistake! Why on earth would we need
another condominium development when there are units within Mariner's Cove that haven't been
sold? Some of these have been on the market for two and three years!
I really object to the prospect of having the headlights from the cars of the inhabitants of
the new development beaming straight into my porch window! Not to mention the obvious
problem with the loss of the view, which was part of the reason that I bought this place to begin
with!
This development effectively makes it impossible for anyone to sell their property for years
to come. Why would anyone want to buy a reasonably"upscale" condo when there's no view
and a constant invasion of privacy?
I encourage you and everyone on the planning commission to vote NO to the proposed
Conditional Use Permit that will make this development possible.
Cordially,
./Z-*
Sue A.
