•
Gerald C. Erickson
5383 Mariners Cove Dr.
Unit 414
Madison, WI 53704
(608)288-5505 (W) (608) 244-9148 (H)
February 22, 1997
Town of Westport Plan Commission
5387 Mary Lake Road
Waunakee, WI 53597
RE: Fletcher Condominium Plat Design
To the Plan Commission:
Since I will be out of town and unable to attend the Public Hearing on Wednesday, February 26, I want
to state my opposition in writing.
As a resident of Mariner's Cove Condominiums I will live with the consequences of your decision
regarding the above development.
•Essentially, all 14 units in Building 400(5 383 Mariner's Cove Drive) and most units in Building 300
(5387 Mariner's Cove Drive)will look out at a 4-1/2 story WALL-the rear surface of this proposed
construction if you approve this development as proposed.
•I ask for your"denial" of this rezoning based on the premise of maintaining some open green space
amongst an already crowded commercial, residential and multi-family living area
*Owners and brokers of land want to operate and"make deals- between buyers and sellers of projects. I
admit the land has been for sale a while, but one doesn't comprehend the impact of a sale until the
realization comes of looking at a 4-1/2 story wall out your living room window.
•Development could be tolerated if it blended better with existing structures. For example, single family
homes along with a small GREEN SPACE to complement what is already in place. This would not
create an ugly sight barrier to any family living in the neig hborhood.
In any event, multi family, multi-floor, apartments or condo units just don't face each other in current
day designs-the"ends"of buildings are often placed adjacent, but you never see the rear of one building
facing the front of another. There is usually some type of buffer zone in between if not a full width street
with minimum setbacks.
Please be aware of our need to exist in harmony with the environment and individual psyche as a resident
of the community.
Cordially,
W„,\.%y v y
Gerald C Erickson
